A statement by the Kurdistan Democratic Party on the progress of the strategic dialogue between the Iraqi government and the United States of America

A statement by the Kurdistan Democratic Party on the progress of the strategic dialogue between the Iraqi government and the United States of America:

Like the other Iraqi patriotic forces and the Iraqi people, we followed the progress of the strategic dialogue between the Iraqi government and the United States of America on the continuation of strategic relations between the two countries and peoples and the future of the presence of the international forces in the country.

While we appreciate the efforts made by the delegation of the Iraqi government, including representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Government, to reach an acceptable formula for the final statement to defuse tension and anxiety in the Iraqi political arena, we stress the need for all parties to abide by what has been agreed upon in good faith and to avoid any escalatory measures to exacerbate the already turbulent situation in the country. And work together to support and enhance security and stability in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and the the whole region, and to abide by all the principles of the Strategic Framework Agreement.
